Out with the old, in with the new. Do it.

It’s been the day I’ve been dreading. Clearing out the wardrobe. The keepers and the goners. And so I’ve finally got around to actually clearing out most of my wardrobe today. The biggest problem I have is getting myself to part from my belongings. I'm usually the type of person who would probably keep anything and everything. During the process, I kid you not, I’ve manage to uncover clothes that I haven’t even seen or probably even worn since 2004. There is just so much ridiculous junk wasting up precious space in my wardrobe. As a result I've managed to clear out baskets full of clothes that I needed to get rid of pronto! Not because they were bad or anything, but just really because I rarely get around to wearing them or simply because they don't fit anymore. What's worse is that there is a whole heap of brand new clothes in my 'to go' pile that still has labels on them and have never been worn. I guess that’s a real problem I have to fix. I really need to stop buying too much new clothes and really start trying to reuse clothes again. I have the bad habit of wearing items once then never end up touching them again for months and in some cases, as I’ve uncovered, even year’s haha. I really need to add that as part of my new years resolution for this year also, going to have to try and minimise my wardrobe – just a little of course haha.

But anyway I’m not exaggerating but I've honestly got enough clothes to even set up a small store to sell off haha. At first it was just a comical remark about the growing amount of ‘to go’ items I wanted to get rid of that could possibly fill up a store, but turns out my girlfriend Amanda called me up and nailed the idea into my head to try and sell what I have especially since a lot of these items are still practically brand new for crying out loud. And I suppose dumping it all to Vinnies will only be a huge waste of money and ebay-ing was just going to take a little too long with the amount of clothes I wanted to get rid of pronto. So Amanda suggested for us to set up a small stand in the upcoming Kirribilli Markets to sell off our Vintage and pre-owned goods. We've got plenty of Vintage items that could be of better use by others. I own absolutely way too many vintage bags also, so it's time to only keep the very few I often use anyway and get rid of the rest because I never get around to using them all.

And so far, we’re in the process of locking in our stall hires and talks of proper equipment and set up has been organised. So I'll definitely fill you guys in on when our actual sale date will occur and of course come on down and possibly browse to see what you could potentially treasure. I suppose the greatest similarities between Amanda and I are just that we really have a bad habit of always wearing items only once and it’ll be a long shot before it’s going to be worn again. So by setting this monthly business you could say, it’s our way of being able to maintain our habit. A solution almost, but not the very best haha. But at least we’d be able to gain just that extra few dollars back to feed our habit of purchasing new clothes then before you know it, once we get sick of them, it could be sold off for someone else to appreciate it. Almost like a cycle you could say? However, I should really feel guilty about always buying new clothes, I suppose this store will do both Amanda and I justice by leaving us a small piece of mind knowing that our preloved items are actually being cherished by others and not wasted away and left unfound and stored deep in the back of our wardrobes rarely or even never to be worn again, unless uncovered once in a blue moon haha. So that’s just a heads up to you guys on few of my initial ideas for the upcoming weeks and months.

This market stall is nothing drastically serious like a full blown business or so, but rather just something I wanted to get myself into as part of my achievements for this year to be more ‘productive’ and consistenly setting ‘challenges’ for myself. Oh and for a bit of extra pocket money of course hehe. As I see it, I’m currently 21yrs old - an offical adult, and besides studying and working for Urbanagent, it’s about time I set a few new challenges for myself. There’s only so much you can do in a lifetime, so do it now. You'll just be selling yourself short if you don't set yourself higher goals. Nothing more fun than keeping yourself ambitious and being ambitious.

The first load I manage to clear from the First section out of 3 sections of my wardrobe.

Yay I finally have alot more room now in the first section!

Continuing to to clear our more in Section 2 of my wardrobe. Yay I'm starting to see more space here too now.

Must clear out the 3rd section to the wardrobe also. Good bye jeans, old clutches & few of my maxi dresses. I need more room!

Well here it is. All the clothes I need to get rid of becuase they either don't fit me anymore or I never get around to wearing. Even if many of them still has tags on them... it's time to go! This load is actually a lot higher than what you see here, it's actually just up to my chest if I were to stand beside it. Time to send these off to others who'd cherish them more than I did haha.

  2. Hey babes,

I'm currently not selling any clothes just as yet until everythings all prepped and ready. However, I'll be starting off with a small boutique at a few markets across Sydney in the next few weeks over the weekends. I'll definitely post up exactly when and where when our bookings for a space at those markets are confirmed. My online project will be coming together real soon, so I'll note the link when I do begin my online store :) hang tight!!! xo
