So after our first stop over at Port Macquarie, Tim and I had set off once again early next day for another six hours on the road, this time making our way directly to the Gold Coast in Queensland. The whole fun of the idea was to drive along the scenic route of the Australian coastal outback. The things we saw along the way were just breath taking. It’s the moments while being on the road is where you find that you would appreciate the adventure of driving rather than flying directly interstate. I never knew how much more I was missing out on by taking the easy route going by air.
This time round we were driving during the day so it gave us the opportunity to do plenty more stop over’s. Our first pit stop was by a Survivor Reviver camp in a town just past Coffs Harbour called Woolgoolta, before I took over the next shift in driving until we hit another small town along the way called Woodburn, where Tim and I took the time to grab fish and chips for lunch by a sunny riverside. The climate difference was definitely beginning to pick up when we stopped there, it was so warm! The fish & chips we had was astonishingly so fresh and delicious that I dare say, could rate as probably one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.
Back on the road once again Tim took the final shift and before you know it, we finally crossed over in Queensland – yay, we made it! The climate was just perfect, such a lovely warm breeze; pulling up we were happy to finally check ourselves into the ultra swanky designer hotel, QT Hotel. Highly recommended for young adults… this hotel was just screaming classy youth!
Collapsing into our gorgeous executive suite we were just so proud of ourselves for actually making the journey there by car that it eventually felt rather surreal for the both of us that we were actually interstate at the time.

Just in time for dinner, after a good moment of settling in and prepping up we decided to try out the chic restaurant located within our hotel called ‘Bazaar’. Now if there was anything I haven’t mentioned just now, is that this hotel really is ultra trendy that even their ‘interactive marketplace’ style restaurant was just creatively decorated. Food and service was right up to top notch standards, which made the experience and the accomplishment of arriving in the Gold Coast far more pleasant.
After a bottle of white Tim and I, thought we’d also try out a few good cocktails at the stylish bar also located within our hotel called ‘Stingray’. Next thing you know, after one too many drinks it turned into shots before we realised it was time we had better hit the hay before we both started to feel extra unco-ordinated. Plus with another big day ahead of us next morning, a hangover was the last thing we wanted.
I love that even just being with and spending time with only Tim, we would always have so much fun together drinking and running a muck as if I was out with my mates on a rowdy night… who said you had to do the boring couply stuff while on vacation with your partner?
