Port Macquarie Pleasures

So after being super tight on schedule after my girlfriends Felicia and Tanja’s graduation dinner… Tim came to pick me up directly from Parramatta before we began our first half of the journey to Port Macquarie late that night. Driving out late Wednesday we thought we’d might as well start our long weekend early so it would help us avoid the Easter long weekend holiday traffic out of Sydney, as most people would be driving out on Thursday afternoon at the start of the holiday. So that was pretty much the best plan we came up with by avoiding all that holiday chaos. In less than being on the road for five hours with only a single pit stop in Newcastle, Tim and I made it to Port Macquarie just past after midnight. Checking into our hotel we seized the opportunity to breathe in the fresh ocean air just across from where our hotel was located before hitting the hay immediately ready for our first day of holiday activities that followed next morning.

Waking up on our first morning of the getaway together, the weather was just simply beautiful - warm clear blue skies. We made ourselves down Port Macquarie’s fishery pier where we had booked ourselves a 1.5 hour water cruise adventure which basically took us around Port Macquarie’s waterside for a bit of scenic fun. Stopping by an Oyster farm along the cruise we had the chance to feed a few fishes before the slow cruise continued. It was a nice chance to bask in the peaceful tranquillity of the beautiful scenery. Arriving back with just enough spare time in the afternoon, we thought we might as well mix up our day a little bit with a bit of 'extreme' fun. So next up on the agenda Tim and I had anticipated for some extreme Speedboat action. Strapping ourselves to a jet boat hitting over 90kilometres an hour, we basically got ourselves thrown around in the thing haha. 360 degree spins, power slides, fish tails and sudden stops – no surprises we ended up completely drenched from top to toe as you would expect from an awesome water thrill ride. I’ll post a video when I manage to get the footage off Tim’s waterproof camera he brought along on the trip.

Finding ourselves out of energy quickly after several activities throughout the morning, we grabbed a late lunch at a small Italian café before winding down a little in our hotel room. However after winding down for just a few hours we ended up far too lethargic to even bother eat out, but also to our surprise dinner trading hours around Port Macquarie ends really early by 9pm. So saving ourselves from dressing up for a restaurant, nothing beats a fancy dinner in the comfort of your own hotel room in your pyjamas with a bottle of red and Eagle Boys pizza!
