As you can imagine, our following morning after the Full moon party was seedy as ever. We had to head back to check out early next morning and make our long 6hour travel back to the mainland. Besides an ugly hangover and minimal sleep, I carried the burden of being severely crippled after my drunken shenanigans which caused me to fall off tables while dancing on them that night. So basically we spent the day travelling back to the mainland, this time we weren’t heading back to Patong Beach but straight to Naiyang which was conveniently much closer to the airport for us to fly out to the next destination the following day to Hong Kong. Checking into our final Hotel in Thailand, we made the most of more relaxations and a Thai filled cuisine dinner right on the beach. It was very romantic. Naiyang was a lot quieter than the bustle of Patong. You would find that most of the infrastructures around there are still rather new. Not so surprising after coming across a bar which displayed graphic photos from the moment the area of Naiyang and its beach side was hit by a Tsunami in 2004. It was very difficult to look at those photos, however it was also very surreal actually being present in Naiyang considering it’s difficult to even begin to imagine the idea that the very spot I was standing on… thousands of locals and tourists had lost their lives there. Very eerie feeling thought indeed. Its moment like those you cannot begin to comprehend the unexpected occurrences and the unavoidable forces of Mother Nature, just like the recent earthquakes and tsunami disaster in Japan. In relation to my holiday post of course my prayers go out to all families either experiencing hardships, those who are still missing and for all those who are now recovering from such a tragedy. Let’s hope the death toll remains minimal. So we were finally coming down to the middle of our trip, and the end of our sunny, hot moments of trip….
